By Dr. Charulata Indore Londhe
Ph.D. (Management – Strategy) | Researcher | Educator | IKS Scholar
In a world shaped by rapid technological change and global interconnectedness, India stands at a unique crossroads: how to reclaim the strength of its civilizational knowledge while advancing forward with modern management and digital innovation.
My academic and professional journey over the last two decades has been about bringing these two worlds together.
🌿 Who Am I?
I am a researcher and academic who works at the intersection of:
1. Indic Knowledge Systems (IKS) – Trade, Commerce & Management
My research explores ancient Indian economic wisdom — from Śreṇi guild institutions, the Indo-Roman trade network, and Naneghat inscriptions to Kautilya’s six-factor strategy (षाड्गुण्य) and the leadership of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.
I believe that India’s deeply rooted management principles hold answers that modern business schools and strategic thinkers are only now beginning to rediscover.
2. Strategic Management, Sustainability & Enterprise Competitiveness
With a doctoral focus on strategy and competitiveness, my work spans:
- Sustainability & green campus frameworks
- India-centric management paradigms
- ESG & BRSR for Indian institutions
- Case studies on MSMEs, textiles, and handloom ecosystems
My research has been published internationally, funded by ICSSR, and recognized by NITI Aayog’s Mission LiFE initiative.
3. Digital Practices for SMEs & Entrepreneurs
Alongside my academic career, I have worked hands-on with SMEs, startups and women entrepreneurs to help them adopt simple, practical digital strategies.
My work focuses on digital readiness, social media literacy, and bridging the urban–rural digital divide through research-informed models.
🎯 Why I Work Across These Three Domains
On the surface, IKS, Strategy, and Digital Practices may look like separate worlds — but in reality, they are deeply interconnected:
✔ Ancient India was a global trade powerhouse
✔ Modern Indian businesses still operate on entrepreneurial wisdom rooted in tradition
✔ Digital tools today amplify the same resilience, competitiveness, and community strength that powered Indian commerce for centuries
My effort is to create India-centric, globally relevant frameworks that draw from all three.
📌 My Mission
To contribute to a management discourse where:
- IKS is a knowledge source, not a footnote
- Indian SMEs are empowered through affordable digital strategies
- Universities adopt NEP-aligned, interdisciplinary learning
- Students build life skills, employability and cultural grounding
- Management education reflects Bharat’s own economic wisdom
I aspire to support a generation of scholars, educators, and entrepreneurs who can think strategically while remaining rooted in India’s civilizational strengths.
